Allie is dedicated to listening, standing up, and getting results for workers and their families.
Allie Petonic brings 20 years of experience as a union organizer and leader, as well as four years of working in coalition with parents, teachers and staff, and community partners toward implementing community schools in Pittsburgh Public Schools (PPS).
Career highlights:
Allie Petonic started out as a union organizer with SEIU in Pittsburgh.
As political director for a UFCW Local in Ohio, she helped restore collective bargaining rights.
She earned a spot as an AFL-CIO field director and field rep, in Ohio and then Pennsylvania.
In Pennsylvania she built the AFL-CIO program on state court races, a big mayor’s race, and fighting paycheck deception.
She earned a master’s degree in labor and workers’ rights at Penn State.
Currently she works at USW, providing strategic research for bargaining or organizing.
Community highlights:
Allie lives in Brighton Heights in the Northside.
She is an active volunteer with LCLAA (Labor Council for Latin American Advancement), Education Rights Network (a campaign of 412 Justice), and APALA (Asian Pacific American Labor Alliance).
She's a Democratic Committee Member in the 27th Ward.
She loves pitching in for neighborhood cleanups and is a member of the Brighton Heights Citizens Federation.
She enjoys singing in the Pittsburgh Labor Choir and is a devoted Pirates fan.
